The Borussia Dortmund board of directors are seriously angry with the comment made by Arsene Wenger; they saw his interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as an insult to the club.
The reason for this reaction is not far-fetched as the Arsenal boss made some comments about the player perceived to be rude by the Dortmund Board.
Arsene Wenger said
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would fit in at Arsenal.
This statement was followed by a strong reply by Borussia Dortmund.
The Arsenal boss remained un-shaken as he insisted that this move would involve exchange of Alexis Sanchez and Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan this is all before the close of the January transfer window.
He also said he is really interested in the Gabonese striker; Aubameyang was left out of Dortmund’s squad for last week’s game against Wolfsburg. It was later discovered that this was due to the player’s behaviour; he was left behind over disciplinary issues.
As stated earlier, Wenger feels the Dortmund’s striker would be able to easily adapt to life at arsenal, this was the reason the sporting director of Borussia Dortmund, Michael Zorc.
Michael Zorc had this to say-
We think it’s disrespectful to talk like this about other players. There is no contact with Arsenal.
We assume that Mr Wenger has enough to do with the performance of his own players.
Arsene Wenger also said that Arsenal will not be signing Bordeaux winger Malcom in January and he is seriously interested in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Alexi Sanchez has signed to United
Peter Stoger, the club’s manager on Thursday said Aubameyang could earn his place back in Dortmund’s side if he shows a willingness to improve his off-the-pitch behaviour. The manager also said that the player is under consideration for Dortmund’s game against Hertha Berlin on Saturday.
“I’m planning the future with him, if he improves his work, “If something changes, I would be informed. As long as this is not happening, he is in my plans. If he behaves like he behaves right now, he will be in the squad tomorrow.
Although the manager said he does not have hope on retaining player’s loyalty. If they wish to stay they are always welcome.
