Arsene Wenger, has coached Arsenal FC for over 21 years and he has come out to say that the transfer of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United is not as painful as the pain he felt when Robin Van Persie (RVB) left the Arsenal side.

Robin Van Persie was signed into Arsenal FC from Feyenoord by Arsene Wenger in the month of April, 2004. Van Persie joined the club at the age of 20. He was signed for £3Million.

It is a well-known fact that RVP was the last high-profile player to leave the emirates side for Old Trafford in 2012. Van Persie signed to Manchester United for a cool sum of £24 Million.

His exit from the club was really painful as hinted by the Arsenal boss. Alexis Sanchez exit is way easier to handle as it is expected for Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhytarian to replace him. Read the full story

It seems history is about to repeat itself as Sanchez who was signed by Arsenal for an amazing £35Million from Barcelona (FCB) in 2014, is making a move to Manchester United after the end of his three and a half year deal with the Emirate side.

Arsene Wenger feels this move is not compared to the pain he felt while losing RVP. He believes that was a harder loss.

Recall, Van Persie won the Premier League title in his first season at Old Trafford; he never won it in Arsenal for eight good seasons.

According to the Arsenal FC coach

We took Van Persie when he played in the reserve team at Feyenoord. We made a long work with him. When you get them there and, after they leave, that is the most painful.

Although he showed signs of happiness that this Sanchez deal would also give him a player in Henrikh Mkhitaryan as compared to the one-way deal of Van Persie.
