ASUU STRIKE 2018 LATEST UPDATE– ASUU strike has been a major problem to Nigerian students in tertiary institutions. It has prolonged the usual years a student ought to spend in school. Students are tired of staying at home and are eager to resume their academics, hence we bring you this update to show our solidarity and support to the Nigerian student.
Although the President of ASUU, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, said the negotiations between ASUU and the FG has not been concluded. It is strongly believed that the strike would be called off soon.
The information spreading round the country is that ASUU has agreed to call off strike between 11th-14th January 2019. This information being circulated is of the view that the Nigerian Federal Government and ASUU has finally reached an agreement.
It is true that the FG has agreed to release 35.6 Billion Naira to ASUU in order for the academic activities to commence, however ASUU president is of a different view.
In his words (Prof Biodun Ogunyemi):
It was on Tuesday that government sent the proposal to us without waiting for feedback before going to the public that we have reached an agreement. ASUU does not operate in that manner.
He went further to say that ASUU cannot call off the strike just because of an ordinary proposal. Until the Union agrees, there is no agreement.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has therefore declared that it is yet to reach an agreement with the FG over the on-going strike.
