The full meaning of PTDF is Petroleum Technology Development Fund.
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), the Federal Government agency with the mandate of developing indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the Overseas MSc and PhD scholarships to specific programmes at selected institutions under its PTDF Overseas Scholarship Scheme for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Eligibility Requirements for Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholarship
General Selection Criteria
- Academic merit including degrees, transcripts, and professional qualifications.
- Publications (PhD applicants only) and membership in professional bodies.
- Relevance and viability of study/research plan.
- Alignment of previous studies with the oil and gas industry and proposed course/research.
MSc Requirements
- A minimum of a Second Class Upper (2.1) in the first degree, or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with industry experience.
- Completed the National Youth Service (NYSC).
- Computer literacy.
- 5 O/level credits, including English and Mathematics.
- A statement of purpose (max 500 words).
- National Identity Number (NIN) with verification (charges apply).
PhD Requirements
- Completed NYSC and computer literacy.
- 5 O/level credits, including English and Mathematics.
- A Second Class Lower (2.2) in the first degree and a strong postgraduate degree.
- A research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (not more than five pages).
- Lecturers must provide a no-scholarship receipt letter.
- National Identity Number (NIN) with verification (charges apply).

Required Documents for 2024 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholarship:
Applicants are advised to scan copies of the following documents and attach them to their online application forms:
- First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result
- NYSC discharge certificate
- WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results and the PINs on the application forms to enable PTDF to view the O’level results on the relevant website.
