Position: Environmental Health Officer

Job Role and Description:

As the Lead Environmental Health Officer, your primary responsibilities include:

Supervising Environmental Health Officers in delivering Environmental Health services in Shell Nigeria.
Overseeing Food & Drinking Water Safety, including HACCP training for health focal points, facility representatives, and food handlers, as well as implementing appropriate controls for preventing food poisoning.
Ensuring drinking water quality in all company-owned premises adheres to World Health Organization’s specifications through periodic testing.
Implementing Integrated Pest Management in Shell’s industrial and residential areas, as well as field locations.
Providing support for Public Health, accommodation, and vessel inspections.
Offering health support to projects through the Health Project Owner scheme.
Engaging with government/regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
Providing input for standard setting and ensuring business compliance with environmental health standards and regulations based on best practices.
Managing environmental health-related contracts (Pest Control), procedures, and audits.
Balancing regional delivery with horizontal input to the Central teams when dealing with business issues and requests.

Qualifications and Requirements:

What we expect from you:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent.
At least 5 years of proven experience in Environmental Health practice.
Strong data analytical skills, above-average information and telecommunication skills.
Analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Possession of a relevant professional license (EHORECON).
Proficiency in Health Risk Management and HSE Management Systems.
A solid understanding of Shell Nigeria’s business, good business partnering, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and the courage to identify improvement opportunities and challenge lower-value work.
