Ghana vs Nigeria play off: Black Stars 27 man squad list to face Super Eagles and all the latest stories.

Black Stars coach on Tuesday named the 27 man squad that would face Nigeria in the FIFA World Cup qualifier play offs on Friday.

Ghana national football team will play Super Eagles in the first leg of the play offs.

The Gold Coast are hosting the first play off at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on March 25, 2022.

After this game, the Black Stars will travel to Abuja for the second leg of the World Cup play offs in Qatar mundial.

Augustin Eguavoen, coach of Nigeria national team invited 25 players for the game against Ghana.

He released the list since 4th of March with seven other players on standby – in-case anything happens to any of the players on the main list.

Ademola Lookman, Emmanuel Denis, Calvin Bassey and Innocent Bonke can get a chance to play their first game for the national team.

On Tuesday the Nigeria Football federation announced that they have dropped the first choice goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye because he is not well. They replaced him with Enyimba FC goalkeeper, John Noble.

Already, many of the players have arrived the team camp at the Federal capital territory, Abuja.

Ghana-Nigeria performance for Afcon 2021

The 2021 African cup of Nations has ended in Cameroon. Senegal won the competition after they beat Egypt at the final.

Both Ghana and Nigeria participated in the tournament but they didn’t go far.

Ghana performance at Afcon was very poor. They left the competition without winning any match. Their captain Andy Ayew got a red card at their final group stage match.

Nigeria on the other hand showed some strength as they qualified from the group stage after topping the group with 9 points.

But the Super eagles did not go beyond the second round as they lost 1-0 to Tunisia. Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi also got a red card in the match.

In the last 71 years, Ghana and Nigeria have met plenty times in the senior level.

Records shows that say Ghana and Nigeria have met 49 times.

Ghana has won 21 of those matches while Nigeria has won 10 and they have drawn 18.

Ahead of the play off on Friday both teams are going as under performers – it is hard to predict who will win.
