NDLEA has been given approval by President Muhammadu Buhari to recruit 5000 drug enforcement agents nationwide. The Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Col. Muhammad Abdallah (retd), says the recruitment is solely to boost its manpower.
Reason for NDLEA Recruitment of 5000 applicants
NDLEA boss made this known on Friday at the Public Destruction of Drug Exhibits by Taraba Command of NDLEA in Jalingo.
Effective drug prevention must involve positive engagement of children, youths and adults with their families, schools, workplace and community.
The Acting Commander of NDLEA in Taraba state, Mr Peter Odaudu, said that the agency had assembled seven tonnes (6,963.80 kilogrammes) of deadly weeds and psychotropic substances for destruction.
The exhibits were seized between January, 2003 and December, 2018.
List of Drugs Scheduled to be destroyed by NDLEA
Some of the illicit drugs assembled for destruction are Cannabis Sativa, Diazepam, Rophynol, Cough syrups with codeine and Tramadol.
According to Mr Peter Odaudu, a court order for their destruction has been duly obtained.
Security agencies in the state were commended for their cooperation in the success recorded by the NDLEA.

The amount you are paid at NDLEA is determined by the nature of your appointment. There is a salary structure for graduates and non graduates at the agency.
The NDLEA salary structure is primarily based on the level ranking using the Consolidated Para-Military Salary Structure (CONPASS).
