Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 38 Recruitment 2025

The Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 38 recruitment 2025 has commenced. We will show to NNBTS website for recruitment and how you can apply on https://joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng/. Online registration is currently ongoing. NNBTS recruitment portal is open and you can apply using the official application link.

The Nigerian Navy (NN) is a branch of the Nigerian Armed Forces. It is among the largest navies on the African continent, consisting of several thousand personnel, including those of the Coast Guard.

The Nigerian Navy has opened recruitment for Basic Training School (BTS) Batch 38, inviting qualified Nigerians for special enlistment into the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 38 within the capacities below. Application is free.

A – Engineering Artificers

  • A1 – Marine Engineer Artificer (MEA):
    5 credits (English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) + OND in Marine/Mechanical Engineering (advantage).
  • A2 – Weapon Electrical Artificer (WEA):
    5 credits (English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) + OND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (advantage).
  • A3 – Aircraft Engineering Artificer (Airframe Engine):
    Diploma in Airframe & Engine (ICAO recognized) + 5 credits (English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry).
  • A4 – Aircraft Engineering Artificer (Avionics & Aircraft Electrics):
    Diploma in Aircraft Electrics/Avionics (ICAO recognized) + 5 credits (English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry).
  • A5 – Shipwright Artificer (SHIPA):
    5 credits (English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry). OND in Mechanical/Electrical/Welding Engineering also accepted.

B – Mechanics & Technicians

  • B1 – Marine Engineer Mechanic (MEM):
    5 credits (English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry). City & Guilds/Trade Test II accepted.
  • B2 – Weapon Electrical Mechanic (WEM):
    Same as B1.
  • B3 – Automobile Mechanic (AM):
    Same as B1.
  • B4 – Welding:
    Minimum of 4 passes and a credit in English Language + relevant Trade Certificate (mandatory).

C – Communications & IT

  • C1 – Communications:
    5 credits (English, Maths, Physics).
  • C2 – IT:
    OND (Lower Credit) in Computer Studies/Science + 5 credits (English, Maths, Physics).
    Additional certifications in Networking, Programming, Web Development, Database, or CAD are an advantage.

D – Seamen & Specialists

  • D1 – Seaman: 5 credits including English & Maths.
  • D2 – Survey Recorders: OND in Land Survey/Cartography/GIS + 5 credits (English, Maths, Physics/Geography).
  • D3 – Sportsmen/Women: SSCE + evidence of participation in National/International sports competitions.
  • D4 – Physical Training Instructors: SSCE + proven sports talent/YSFON participation.
  • D5 – Chaplain Assistants: SSCE + CRK + 2 years’ church work + letters of recommendation.
  • D6 – Imam Assistants: SSCE + Arabic + IRK + 2 years’ mosque work + recommendation letters.
  • D7 – Firemen: SSCE + basic firefighting certificate (advantage).
  • D8 – Painting: 4 passes + English credit + relevant trade certificate.

E – Administrative & Technical

  • E1 – Writers: SSCE (5 credits: English, Maths, Accounts/Economics, Computer Science) + OND/NCE advantage.
  • E2 – Store Assistants: SSCE (English, Maths, Economics). Computer skill advantage.
  • E3 – Caterers: SSCE (English, Food & Nutrition/Home Management). Experience advantage.
  • E4 – Ordnance: 5 credits including English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry.
  • E5 – Project Technicians: OND in Building/Architecture/Quantity Survey etc. + 5 credits.
  • E6 – Tailoring, E7 – Carpentry, E8 – Plumbing, E9 – Masonry, E10 – Electrical Technician, E11 – Refrigeration & AC Technician:
    Minimum of 4 passes + English credit + relevant trade certificate/experience.

F – Medical Personnel

  • F1 – Medical Assistants:
    5 credits (English, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics) + Basic First Aid/CPR (advantage).
  • F2 – Health Technicians:
    OND or professional certificate in Biomedical, Dental, Environmental Health, Radiography, Lab Tech, Pharmacy, or Physiotherapy + 5 credits (English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology).

G – Bandsmen

5 credits including English Language. Must be proficient in playing at least one instrument.

H – Drivers/Mechanics

SSCE with 5 credits (including English) + valid driver’s license, mechanic certificate, and experience letter. FRSC recommendation is an advantage.

J – Journalists

OND in Mass Communication, Journalism, Graphics, or Cinematography + 5 credits (English & Maths).

K – Nurses

Registered Nurse (RN) or double qualification (RM, A&E, ENT, Psychiatric, Pediatric, etc.) + 5 credits (English, Maths, Biology, Physics, Chemistry).

N – Education

NCE in Arts/Science/Technical subjects + 5 credits (English, Maths).
TRCN certification is an advantage.

General Requirements

  1. Applicant must be a citizen of Nigeria by birth (no dual citizenship allowed).
  2. Age Requirements:
    • For entry categories A5, B1, B2, B3, C1, D1, D4, D7, E1, E2, E3, E4, F1, and G — Applicants must have a School Certificate and be between 18–22 years old by 31 December 2025.
    • For categories requiring NCE, Diploma (OND), or Registered Nurse/Midwife qualifications — such as A1–A4, B4, C2, D2, D8, E5–E11, F2, J, K, N, as well as D3 (Sportsmen and Sportswomen), D5 (Chaplain Assistants), D6 (Imam Assistants), and H (Drivers/Mechanics) — applicants must be between 18–26 years by 31 December 2025.
  3. Applicants with additional qualifications such as OND or NCE must provide their statement of results.
  4. Applicants must not be married, pregnant, or nursing.
  5. Applicants must be free from any previous criminal conviction by a court of law.
  6. Applicants with any of the following medical/physical challenges should not apply:
    • Sight or ear problems, communicable diseases, mental health issues, stammering, or any physical disability.
    • BMI, flat foot, dental issues, or spinal deformities.
    • Applicants with tattoos are also not to apply.
  7. Minimum height requirements:
    • Males: 1.68 meters
    • Females: 1.65 meters
  8. Accepted educational/professional qualifications:
    • a. West African Senior School Certificate (WAEC) – not more than two sittings and not older than 6 years.
    • b. General Certificate of Education (GCE) O’Level
    • c. National Examination Council (NECO)
    • d. National Business and Technical Examinations (NABTEB)
    • e. WAEC City & Guilds or London City & Guild
    • f. Ordinary National Diploma (OND)
    • g. Any other equivalent qualification
    • h. Primary School Leaving Certificate must be presented at the interview.
  9. Applicants must provide their National Identification Number (NIN).
  10. Applicants with HND or higher qualifications than those listed above are not to apply.
  11. Certificates not declared during recruitment cannot be used later for change of department or advancement in the Navy.
  12. Applicants must print and complete the following forms:
    • Applicant’s Declaration Form
    • Parent/Guardian Consent Form
    • Local Government Area Certification Form
    • Police Certification Form
    • Guarantor’s Form
  13. Documents to be presented at the recruitment centre:
    • a. Photocopy of Birth Certificate or Age Declaration.
    • b. Photocopy of Credentials (including First School Leaving Certificate/Testimonial).
    • c. Identification Form signed by LGA Chairman/Secretary or senior military/police officer.
    • d. Parent/Guardian Consent Form.
    • e. Four (4) passport photographs signed and stamped by the same authority.
    • f. Scratch cards for WAEC, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB results.
  14. Application form must be completed and submitted online.
  15. Applicant must not belong to any secret or unlawful organization.
  16. Any applicant found guilty of impersonation or document forgery will be disqualified and prosecuted.
  17. Recruitment Aptitude Test holds on 29 November 2025.
  18. Successful candidates will undergo Basic Military Training and be enlisted as Ordinary Seamen.

Application Deadline

The management of Nigerian Navy has announced 31st October, 2025 as the latest closing date for the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 38 Recruitment online registration. Thus, NA application portal will be closed on 31st October, 2025.

What to Expect After Application

  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified via the portal (or through email/contact info you supplied) about their test date and screening center.

  • If you pass the aptitude test, you’ll undergo basic military training. Upon successful completion, you’ll be formally enlisted.

  • Training is rigorous. Be prepared physically and mentally.
