Nigeria National Identity Number (NIN) Holders Will Pay Money For Services

Nigeria National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said that Nigerians that already have National Identification Number (NIN) will have to pay money if they want to make some kind of changes to the information they provided or if they want to get another NIN card.

The commission regional coordinator, Funmi Opesanwo, said that the money they charge is called modification fee and processing fee for services.

She also said that there are many different services that the commission carry out for Nigerians, such as if you want to correct your name, address or age, plus replace or renew your card and this services attract a fee.

However, to register for NIN is free of charge.

How much is change of name on NIMC

For name modification or change of name, visit a nimc office. It cost N500 payable via remita. If you’re adding or changing a new name you will require a newspaper publication and court affidavit.

How much is change of date of birth (DOB) on NIMC

For people who want to change their date of birth on NIMC, the processing fee is N15,000.

If you want to change address or correct your name, you are to pay N500.

How much to replace or renew NIMC NIN Slip

If you want to replace your card or renew it, the processing fee is N5,000.

Mrs Opesanwo stated: “For date of birth correction, the processing fee is N15,000. For card renewal or replacement, the processing fee is N5,000. For the modification of address or name, the processing fee is N500.

Please note that it is only for the above services that you are expected to pay. For new NIMC NIN registration it is completely free.
