A lot of Npower 2016 Beneficiaries are not yet certain on the fate of their jobs, it has been rumored that the Federal Government (FG) has plans to make the employment permanent instead of the stipulated 2 years duration of the program.

We have been receiving a lot of questions from all our esteemed readers regarding this particular issue and we decided to do a little fact finding and we are here to present to you the result.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Job creation and Youth Empowerment, Mr Afolabi Imoukhuede said in an interview which held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in Abuja, that there was no provision of permanent employment.

“To the best of my knowledge, I am not aware of this news, when I read it, they were quoting Mr President and I am not aware of any meeting where Mr President made such statement.

“I am not aware of the practicality of such news, what I know was that the pioneer members will not exit the programme as earlier schedule,’’ he said.

We don’t have provision to give the 2016 batch of N-Power beneficiaries permanent job says the Federal Government.

The SSA also promised that all pioneer candidates/workers of the Npower Scheme would continue receiving their mothly stipends/salary till the end of their programme.

Federal Government Discussion With State Governors To Employ Npower Beneficiaries

The Npower Board are in talks with some state governors and other agencies on ways to absorb beneficiaries into the respective States Civil Service Commission

Mr Afolabi Imoukhuede, was of the view that Npower beneficiaries had contributed a lot to the school where they were attached and so he made a promise that they would not be abandoned.

This is what he had to say on the issue-

“Some of these volunteers have gotten used to the teaching methodology, and they are used to the system, and you know some of these schools also lack teachers.

“In some of these schools, you only find the head teacher and the Vice, the other teachers you find are N-power and corps members,”

What is Npower enhancement programme?

Npower Enhancement Programme is meant to improve the value, quality of the 2016 beneficiaries in a way that they will make a more significant contribution to the Nigerian economy while also making themselves self-sufficient.

“The programme will be expanded, enriched, made bigger and better and we will improve the welfare of those in the programme,”- Prof Yemi Osinbanjo

Areas the N-Power Enhancement Programme will be centred on:

• Education (N-Teach)
• Agriculture (N-Agro )
• Health (for N-Health)

The SSA to the President on Job creation and Youth Empowerment, said the government was trying to ensure a greater enhancement for economic opportunities for the pioneer members of the scheme.
